Tsavo National park, the land of the man-eater lions has huge herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes as well as lions, leopards and cheetahs. Less crowded than Masai Mara, it is the ideal park for great pictures of plains game such as giraffes, kudus, zebras, elands, gazelles, oryx, hippos and crocodiles.

With dramatic scenery of volcanic hills dotted across the land, thick undergrowth with sections of savannah grasslands Tsavo is more wild than Masai Mara, Amboseli or Samburu. Tsavo gives you the surprise of seeing a family of elephants the least expected moment emerging from the bush.

Plan for a minimum of 4-5 full days in Tsavo for one-off pictures of wildlife, landscapes and birds.
You can also combine Tsavo with photo safaris in Amboseli and the Swara Plains Conservancy.
