Kenya National Parks
The Naivasha area has been one of Ontdek's all time favorite as for photography while on easy gameviewing walks away from mass tourism. With 3 unique reserves all at a very close circuit and with easy to see plain game while on foot means that this is the right place to set your photo gear right in the field for excellent wildlife photos.
Crescent Island which is a private conservancy on the Eastern shore of Lake Naivasha has giraffes, zebras, wildebeest , gazelles, waterbucks and with the backdrop of the lake you get photos that are far different than for example in Mara. With over 200 birds species recorded a lot of them water birds that are easily seen on the shore , Crescent Island is the very place for perfect birds photography.
Hell's Gate National Park is one of the smallest parks in Kenya, with low numbers of visitors. Its beauty is found in the contrasting landscapes. The topography is characterized by flat savannah grassland with plenty of zebras, warthogs and many types of gazelles. The grasslands are sandwiched between huge rock boundaries which give a variety in your landscape photography. There are camphor and acacia trees all over and this is where to look for the giraffes as they mainly feed on them. Then there is the Side Gorge which is a steep canyon where the rocks have split to leave only a walking path with interesting display of the sun rays, Hell's Gate is worth a whole day for a photography tour.
Crater Lake Sanctuary is another private game conservancy which presents opportunities for landscape as well as wildlife photography. There is the green-colored lake rich in algae that flamingoes feed on and the surrounding plains have huge numbers of plains game. With options for walks and vehicle game drives you get very close sightings of Giraffes, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Elands, Hartebeests and a range of Gazelles, all which are easily found in the sanctuary.
