8 Days Guided Kenya Wildlife Safari In Amboseli And Tsavo National Parks (Wildlife Tour 3)

Ontdek Kenya is renown for unique wildlife safaris that concentrate on selected parks with the advantage that you get quality time devoted for wildlife viewing rather than spending your days hopping from one park to another on a tight safari itinerary.

This 8 days southern Kenya wildlife safari covers Amboseli and Tsavo national parks. Starting with Amboseli National Park, at the foot of the snowcapped Kilimanjaro, then Tsavo the land of the man-eater lions, you will have one-off viewings of huge herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes as well as lions, leopards and cheetahs.

This wildlife safari is very ideal for keen birders and wildlife photographers as there is enough time per location and the scenery ranges from the snow-capped Kilimanjaro while in Amboseli to very dramatic hills in Tsavo.

Nairobi (Day 1)

Arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport in Nairobi. Reception by Ontdek Kenya and transfer to the La Mada Hotel or equivalent hotel in Nairobi.

Wildlife Safari Amboseli NP (Day 2, 3 & 4)

After breakfast we head south east of Nairobi towards Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and has the advantage of having many swamps that are fed by underground rivers coming from the mountain. Its beauty lies in seeing the big game including the elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, impalas, Grant's gazelles and elands with the backdrop of the snow-capped Kilimanjaro. This is a place for great photos justifying our tour as a photography safari.

With 425 species of birds, our 3 days here should be able to give us a chance to see Vultures, Eagles, Bustards, Sandgrouses, Ground Hornbills, Rosy-breasted Longclaw, Sooty Chat, Falcons, Barn Owl, Spotted Redshank, Temminck's Stint, Saddle-billed Stork and the hyperactive Black Crake.

We stay 3 nights Kibo tented camp.

Wildlife Safari Tsavo NP (Day 5, 6 & 7)

After a pre-breakfast birding we'll drive through open bush country dotted with acacia trees on our way to Tsavo National Park.

This is the largest national park in Kenya, divided into Tsavo West and East by the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Coming to Tsavo, immediately after Amboseli, presents us with an opportunity to compare how similar species of wildlife look different just because of their habitat. The elephants of Tsavo are of a redder color than those of Amboseli. Again while in Amboseli the joy was in seeing the elephant families in the open plains, in Tsavo it is the surprise of seeing a family at the least expected moment emerging from the bush.

For 3 days enjoy extended but relaxed game drives looking out for all the big game and cats as well as plains game such as zebras, gazelles and giraffes.

We stay for 3 nights at the Severin Safari Camp, a luxury tented camp with superb sightings on the surrounding hills.

Lunch At Acacia Camp + Transfer To Nairobi For Outbound Flight (Day 8)

Leave Tsavo after breakfast and head back to Nairobi stopping at the Swara Plains conservancy for lunch. Enjoy game drives in the afternoon and leave the ranch for the airport in the evening.

Itinerary changes may be made due to local conditions beyond our control.
