Kenya Wildlife Safaris
Ontdek Kenya crafts unique African wildlife safaris for clients seeking one of a kind nature journeys rather than the hectic safari packages covering all parks in Kenya. We are not an office-bound tour re-seller, we are a dedicated team of nature people right on the ground in Kenya. We like to think of your Kenya wildlife safari as our very own and as we often join clients on safari it matters to us that we create itineraries that have top-notch wildlife viewing, the best services possible and quality time dedicated to our clients preferred activities.
Since 1996 we have built a loyal following both of overseas safari operators and independent wildlife enthusiasts who have benefited from our passion and knowledge of Kenya, which adds immense value to their safari in a responsible and a non-choreographed manner (please see our references on this website).
What Makes An Ontdek Kenya Safari Unique?
- Unlike many safaris to Kenya which feature long and exhausting one-day transfers e.g. Nairobi to Samburu or Samburu to Nakuru , we give you our candid approach on parks selection and combinations enabling you to see as much as possible with minimal transfers making your safari relaxed. Remember however good an alternative itinerary that covers many parks looks, on the ground it will be exhausting and with less time for quality wildlife viewing.
- We encourage our clients to stay in one location for a min 2 or 3 nights so as to have enough time to explore the parks. This way your tour is more relaxed and your wildlife viewing is not rushed.
- Our clients appreciate the fact that we take them to places that are not visited by mass tourism. These are mainly private game conservancies and the small national parks that are full of easy to see game on vehicle drives or while on walking safaris.
- We don’t subscribe to the 2 game drives/day safari rule. We go for maximum time in the field as defined by you - the client. Yes, you will find us enjoying a lion chasing a prey at 12 noon – the very time that other tourists are idling away in hotel lounges waiting for the 4pm game drive!
- We are proud of our tour leaders who will accompany you throughout your safari. They are accomplished naturalists who take your wildlife viewing tour way beyond the “Big Five” as they give you insights into the Africa eco-system in an educational yet fun way.
- We believe in small groups usually 4 -12 as this is the best way to enjoy nature.
- Besides our now popular wildlife safaris from our website we customize safaris to suit our clients need, always giving you genuine info to make your proposed tour memorable (see a client's tour feedback).
- On accommodation –the latest fad especially in Mara is tented camps – a very unique experience BUT some are far way outside Masai Mara with difficult access to the main wildlife viewing areas, not to mention the extra costs that one incurs to enter the park (often not mentioned in the initial itinerary). As their marketing catch is still “the Mara”, it helps when your tour operator’s primary objective is to give you a one-off gameviewing experience and not just to book you into a tented camp for a commission.
- Please note we are not associated with any lodge, hotel or tented camp and our booking decisions are based on the property’s close proximity to client’s preferred activities, quality accommodation and overall service which we review regularly.
