CONTACT OF A LOCAL TOUR OPERATOR FOR STUDENTS TRAVELING TO EAST AFRICA

YOU ASKED

I am the teacher who will be traveling with a group of 18 students ages 15-17 years to East Africa. Should I get the name of the local safari operator who will handle the group or should I leave everything in the hands of the students travel agency here in USA.

ANNE HUYSMAN REPLIES

Trust is key to arranging students travel to Africa and you as the teacher accompanying the students must have access to all parties involved in arranging the school tour. While the students agency in USA connects you to the local safaris operator that will handle your school tour, there should be no good reason why you shouldn't have the name and contact of the ground operator.

Grant it that the students agency in N. America may be uncomfortable with releasing too much info on the cost of students travel package from the ground operator but assure him that these are not the details you are after. You simply want to know about the person who will receive you and be with you on the ground.
