HOW MANY HOURS FOR A KENYA WALKING SAFARI

YOU ASKED

We are reading the small prints of our walking safari in Kenya and shocked to see that most walks are about 1-2 hrs long, which to us is a very short time for serious walking. Is this the normal timing for walking safari?

ANNE HUYSMAN REPLIES

Good that you are reading the small prints on your walking safari in Kenya and I hope you are raising any queries with your Kenya walking safari operator.

While it does look like 1-2 hours is too short for fit walkers, note that most walks which take place in ranches or designated national parks have flexible distances to suit different abilities.

A good walking safari should be around - not just about covering kilometers but discovering and connecting with nature. There are birds to see, plants to learn about and the scenery to enjoy.

So if your level of fitness allows, let your safari operator know that you wish to spend much longer in the filed than 2 hours. No harm in going out with a picnic box for lunch and having your meal on scenic spots a long the walking trail.
