SPONSORSHIP FOR STUDENTS TRAVELING TO AFRICA

YOU ASKED

Are there students sponsorships for travel to Africa? If we could raise our airfares can we work for our accommodation in the lodges in the parks.

ANNE HUYSMAN REPLIES

For students wishing to travel to Africa, the reality is that someone has to foot the bill. While you don't say if your travel is academic based or leisure based, student travel to Africa is just like in any other part of the world; pay your way through.

On if you can work in the game lodge in the parks, this is something you should not consider counting on as most lodges /safari camps in Africa have enough manpower to suit their needs and you possibly do not have the training for the jobs available in the lodges. Besides the per night charges in most game lodges in Africa is much more than what you'd earn per day.

Let me wrap by saying that you also need appropriate work permits and health certificates to work in lodges in Africa. I doubt highly if as students you can be granted work permit.
