Day 1. Nairobi
Arrival and transfer to the Eka Hotel in Nairobi.
Day 2, 3 + 4. Coeliac safari in Amboseli
After breakfast we head south east of Nairobi towards the Amboseli National Park.
Amboseli is at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and has the advantage of having many swamps that are fed by underground rivers coming from the mountain. Its beauty lies in seeing the big game including the elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, impalas, Grant's gazelles and elands with the backdrop of the snow-capped Kilimanjaro. This is a place for great photos justifying our tour as a photography safari.
With 425 species of birds, our 3 days here should be able to give us a chance to see Vultures, Eagles, Bustards, Sandgrouses, Ground Hornbills, Rosy-breasted Longclaw, Sooty Chat, Falcons, Barn Owl, Spotted Redshank, Temminck's Stint, Saddle-billed Stork and the hyperactive Black Crake.
Overnights at the Ol Tukai Lodge.
Day 5. Amboseli + to Nairobi
On day 5 we do an extensive morning game drive. Before transferring to Nairobi, we have our lunch at the Ol Tukai Lodge.
Dinner and overnight are again at the Eka Hotel.
Day 6, 7 + 8. Masai Mara. O/N Mara Leisure Camp
To see the best of Kenyan wildlife Masai Mara is the place to be. Elephants, rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, hartebeests, topis and all the big cats are found here. So, after breakfast we start our journey passing through Narok Town - a colorful Masai town.
Our game viewing does not actually start at the park gate. We will be able to see many animals along the way grazing side by side with the Masai livestock. We reach the Mara Leisure Camp, our home for the next three days, in time for lunch.
Day 9. Kiambethu tea plantation + to Nairobi for outbound flight
We now head towards the Kiambethu Tea Farm, where we'll be in time for a late lunch.
This is an old colonial home established by the early settlers and the pioneers of tea growing in Kenya. There will be a talk on tea: its arrival in Kenya, the growing, processing and up to when you put it into your cup. A short guided walk in the tea plantation and into a small remaining part of indigenous forest completes the tour.
We have a healthy farm lunch and thereafter transfer to Nairobi for the evening flight out ending a successful gluten free walking tour.
