9 days coeliac disease patients safari tour amboseli masai mara maasai mara vacation

10 Days in Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara

Day 1. Nairobi

Arrival at the JKIA airport and transfer to the Silver Springs Hotel in Nairobi.

Day 2, 3 + 4. Amboseli National Park

After breakfast we head south east of Nairobi towards the Amboseli National Park.

Amboseli is at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and has the advantage of having many swamps that are fed by underground rivers coming from the mountain. Its beauty lies in seeing the big game including the elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, impalas, Grant's gazelles and elands with the backdrop of the snow-capped Kilimanjaro. This is a place for great photos justifying our tour as a photography safari.

Kenya Wildlife safari travel in Amboseli, Kenya: 2 male lions

With 425 species of birds, our 3 days here should be able to give us a chance to see Vultures, Eagles, Bustards, Sandgrouses, Ground Hornbills, Rosy-breasted Longclaw, Sooty Chat, Falcons, Barn Owl, Spotted Redshank, Temminck's Stint, Saddle-billed Stork and the hyperactive Black Crake.

Overnights at the AA Amboseli Lodge.

Day 5. Lake Naivasha

We transfer to Lake Naivasha, where we'll be staying in the Lake Naivasha Country Club. In the afternoon we do a boat ride on the lake on the lookout for families of hippos in the water, waterbucks, wildebeests, Masai giraffes and zebras on the shore of Crescent Island and numerous colorful water birds. The feeding of the African Fish Eagle gives wonderful photo opportunities.

Day 6. Lake Nakuru National Park

A short transfer brings us to the Lake Nakuru National Park known for the big game e.g. Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, rhinos (both black and white), lions, leopards... but also for its thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other colourful water birds. We stay in the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

Day 7, 8 + 9. Masai Mara

To see the best of Kenyan wildlife Masai Mara is the place to be. Elephants, rhinos, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, hartebeests, topis and all the big cats are found here. So, after breakfast we start our journey passing through Narok Town - a colorful Masai town.

Our game viewing does not actually start at the park gate. We will be able to see many animals along the way grazing side by side with the Masai livestock. We reach the AA Masai Mara Lodge, our home for the next three days, in time for a late lunch.

Day 10. Kiambethu tea plantation + to Nairobi for outbound flight

We now head towards the Kiambethu Tea Farm, where we'll be in time for a late lunch.

This is an old colonial home established by the early settlers and the pioneers of tea growing in Kenya. There will be a talk on tea: its arrival in Kenya, the growing, processing and up to when you put it into your cup. A short guided walk in the tea plantation and into a small remaining part of indigenous forest completes the tour.

We have a healthy farm lunch and thereafter transfer to the JKIA airport in Nairobi for your evening flight out.
